The winter of the birds
An old man watches the stars and waits for the terrible birds of steel which run on wires, and a young boy is training to be a hero. Then the extraordinary Patrick Finn arrives and by his example changes the suspicious and hostile inhabitants of St. Saviours into a real community which can encompass the old man and the boy, and attempt to combat the menacing steel birds.
