Enemies become friends : a true story of German Prisoners of War

Using letters, diaries and newspaper reports the text tells of the people of Oswaldtwistle in Lancashire at the end of the Second World War, who welcomed German prisoners of war from the local camp into their homes at Christmas, and later they scraped together food and clothing to send to those same prisoners when they were repatriated to a devastated Germany.
