This novel explores the nature of love and compassion, faith and truth, in a combination of mystery and hilarity. Fludd arrives in the village of Fetherhoughton proclaiming, "I have come to transform you, transformation is my business." However, in the dour North of England village, the fruits of his labour are to be hard won and frequently unusual.
