Notifications Miller was born in 1915 to Jewish-American parents. During the Great Depression Miller found hope in Communism and subsequently, was persecuted during the Cold War. Miller played a heroic role by refusing to give evidence against others to the House of Un-American Activities Committee in 1956. In that same year, Arthur Miller momentously married Marilyn Monroe.
